Better Socks LLC ("BirdSpend", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use BirdSpend (birdspend.com).

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us:

Account information: name, email address, business name, and password
Payment information: processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card details
Usage data: AI tool spend figures you enter or sync
Communications: messages you send via our contact form

We also automatically collect certain technical data when you use BirdSpend, including IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and service improvement purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide, operate, and improve the BirdSpend service
To send you your dashboard, alerts, and account communications
To process payments and manage your subscription
To respond to your support requests
To send product updates and relevant information (you can opt out at any time)

3. AI Processing

BirdSpend uses the Anthropic Claude API to generate cost-saving recommendations. When you request recommendations, your spending data (tool names and amounts) is sent to Anthropic's API. We do not send personally identifying information to the API. Anthropic's data handling is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate BirdSpend:

Stripe — payment processing
Anthropic — AI recommendations
Netlify — hosting and infrastructure
Formspree — contact form submissions

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your account or request deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days. To request deletion, email birdspend.ai@gmail.com.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, encrypted storage, and secure API key management. We never expose API keys in client-side code.

7. Your Rights

8. Cookies

BirdSpend uses only essential cookies required for authentication and security. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

BirdSpend is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes by email or via the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
